The Reset — The Month of Ease

Summer doesn’t ease in. One week you have breathing room, the next your calendar has made decisions you don’t remember agreeing to.

The solstice hits in June, but May is where the pace gets set. The light stretches, the invitations stack, and the days get louder before you’ve had a chance to decide what you actually want from the season. Most people arrive in summer already behind.

This reset isn’t about doing more before summer starts. It’s about choosing your rhythm before someone else chooses it for you.

For me that looks like starting my workouts earlier, before the heat makes excuses easy, treating my body like it deserves maintenance rather than recovery from neglect, and making one small refresh that signals the season has turned. Not an overhaul. One thing that makes May feel like yours.

That’s the standard. One thing in each area of your life that says you showed up for this season before it showed up for you.

Before the reset, a few decisions worth making out loud.

Leave behind the calendar that sets your rhythm before you do, the ‘I’ll start in June’ delay, and the spending that shows up when you’re tired and not paying attention. Carry into summer an early morning rhythm that protects the rest of the day, consistency over intensity in your body, and one maintenance move that feels steady rather than corrective.

Choose one or two reset points that meet you where May actually is.

HOME

The goal isn’t a refresh — it’s a signal. One cleared surface changes the mood of an entire space more than a full reorganization ever will. One seasonal swap — linen, scent, lighting — tells the room the season has shifted. Small and deliberate beats ambitious and abandoned every time.

AGENDA

Before summer fills it for you, decide what this season is actually for. Choose one protected block that makes the next three months livable — and remove one commitment that doesn’t belong in your May lens. Your agenda should reflect your priorities, not just your availability.

BODY

Set your summer training reality now — earliest realistic start time and the bedtime that makes it possible. Not the aspirational version. The one you’ll actually keep. Pair it with one recovery commitment: stretch, hydration, mobility, or a rest day that is genuinely protected. Consistency over intensity. That’s the only standard worth setting.

TABLE

Plan one simple May table moment — even for two, even for one. A meal that feels considered, not complicated. And choose your May signature: one detail that makes this month feel like yours. A bottle, a playlist, a candle, a flower. One detail only. The rest follows from there.

MONEY

Make one money move that sets you up for summer. Identify something you’re funding that no longer serves the life you’re actually living and redirect what it costs somewhere named. The move doesn’t have to be large. It has to be named.

May doesn’t ask for a transformation. It asks for one decision that says you chose this season before it chose you. That is the reset. It was always going to be enough.

Which of the five is your May move? Share it in the comments, or bring it into Consider This — Bluhoneí’s newsletter, where the conversation continues every two weeks.
